because of the imagination, and the dreaming about things you can't really see
because of the creativity and joy of picking out and making a costume
because of the pure and silly fun of dressing up and pretending
because we get to see our neighbors face to face, and actually talk to them
because two gnomes got to see how nice it is to be grateful (and mommy and daddy gnome got to witness our 3 year old saying "thank you" at least 30 times last night)
