Come away with me in the night
Come away with me
And I will write you a song
Come away with me on a bus
Come away where they can't tempt us
With their lies
I want to walk with you
On a cloudy day
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high
So won't you try to come
Come away with me and we'll kiss
On a mountaintop
Come away with me
And I'll never stop loving you
And I want to wake up with the rain
Falling on a tin roof
While I'm safe there in your arms
So all I ask is for you
To come away with me in the night
Come away with me -Norah Jones
Today I had the sweetest moment with my eldest son, Caleb.
Caleb is often called our "wiggle worm," and he has "ants in his pants." He is also NOT a snuggler. So often, I long to snuggle him and hold him close, but since birth, he has been telling me, wordlessly, "DON'T fence me in!" Caleb loves to be on the move!!!
And while I thought that kids started rejected their parents around the preteen years, Caleb started at the ripe age of 28 months by telling me, "Want mommy go back inside?" when he was playing with his babysitter out on our deck.
So, today, I was about to resist my urge (as usual) to pick him up and hold him, since I knew he would just jolt and wiggle until he got away...... But, I didn't resist. I gave it a try.
I picked him up, and started singing him this song by Norah Jones. This song never gets tiresome to me, and it is always classy, pure, and timelessly special.
Caleb held on.
Caleb put his head on my shoulder. And we spun around and around as I sang.
Those 2 minutes
will last forever.
Just born.
One month.
One year.
One and a half years.
Two years.
Three, next month.
Come away with me, little one. And I'll never stop loving you.
1 friends had a thing or two to say...:
